Tucked away in a strip mall along Bethel Road, Gallo's Tap Room is a bit hard to find if you don't know it's there. But the truth is, most everyone on the Northwest Side knows about this gem. Owned and operated by two brothers and a cousin, the friendly neighborhood place focuses on quality. Inside, a large wood-block bar sits below an antler chandelier, and there are plenty of high-top tables and a couple of booths. Outside, there's a small patio with a half-dozen tables. It's a popular haunt for the gameday crowd, with plenty of flat-screens and a private party room. But even in the dog days of summer, with no (American) football to watch, Gallo's keeps a steady crowd happy with its tremendous selection of craft beers and quite possibly the best bar food in town. ~ Columbus Alive
One would hardly expect to get outstanding food in a sports bar, but this is the exception to the rule. If you’re in the area, toss all your preconceived notions out and stop in. You won’t regret it for a second. ~ Columbus Foodie
Gallo's is unique among sports bars in Columbus. First of all, it's not an overt ex-frat hangout - not that there's anything wrong with that! And the place isn't bright and loud or in general trying too hard while delivering too little. No, Gallo's is dark, modern and almost nightclubby, with lots of handsome and inviting woodwork and a massive, distinct carousel-like wagon wheel structure hanging above its wraparound bar. Plus, this place is positively brimming over with top-shelf beers - from Rogue to Bell's to Samuel Smith, they've got it all here. Those cool brews comes in mighty handy on Tuesday evenings, because that's when Gallo's excellent wings are on special. ~ Columbus Alive |
